This commission is a little bit older now, but I'm actually quite pleased with how it turned out. For the same client I did the Burnt Memoires cover for, I did a small series of speedpaint illustrations that would be put inside the book. The first is Jean-Baptiste playing with his brother in childhood, the second depicts him brooding over a small box in the monestary gardens, and the third depicts him conversing with Henri III. I had to use a lot of references to put these together, and while these are technically "speedpaints", I feel like I took forever to paint these!
