Aussie Concept Development Sheet

Ordinarily I would err on the side of keeping all this information about a monster design confidential/for my eyes only - but I spoke to my father recently about my concerns and he thinks I'm doing myself a disservice by keeping all my monster designs to myself (and I have a lot of them). My father believes that people create artwork to be shared with other people - I guess he's talked me round on that front (to some extent).

Of the many original monster designs I've come up with over the past year or so (specifically for my forthcoming monster comic project) Aussie and Fina are only the proverbial tip of the iceberg - there are many more monster designs I have yet to show - when the time is right.

I'm generally wary of releasing a character design prematurely. I like to wait a little while for a character design to 'settle' or 'stabilise' - so I know that I won't want to make any major revisions in the forseeable future. You can see here that I hadn't yet figure out Aussie's belly mark (around her pouch opening). Oddly enough Aussie's and Fina's designs came out of me with very little need for 'tweaking' or 'adjusting' - I think they were resting/incubating in my subconscious just waiting to flow out of me when the conditions were right.

The egg bombs (which she pulls from her pouch) seem like a cool idea but realistically I'm not sure how much of a part they'll play in the comics.

The strength of Aussie's colour scheme still blows me away now many months after I conceived her. Her colour scheme is definitely one of the most powerful I've come up with to date.
