October is a good time to post this, so meet Mal and her feline familiar, Soot! I created her because I wanted to paint a werewolf with iridescent black fur, inspired by the Common Grackle bird, and she ended up with a bit of a back story. I sat on the finished art for a couple months until I came up with a name for her.
Mal is a bit of an outcast. In her world werewolves and witches don't mix, and she happens to be both. She completed enough of her witch's apprenticeship to be pretty handy with magic, and continued teaching herself after she was bitten and subsequently banished from her town. She's learned a number of pretty cool spells, including one that allows her to shift at will. She can also turn into a cloud of Grackles briefly! She pretty much wants to be left alone, holding a lot of resentment for the society which refused to help her when she needed it most, and cast her out to live or die in the woods alone.
Her familiar, Soot, is not happy with his witch being turned into a werewolf. He's been a bit jumpy since the event, at which he was present. He is very loyal, and followed her into exile. All the other familiars make fun of him for his witch's predicament, but he does keep moderate contact with the witch world through them. There are still a few willing to do a favor or two for him.
I wasn't expecting to, but I think I might! Not sure when to find the time for personal art of course, haha. XD
I've been working on headworld stuff for my little winged doggies in my free time mostly, putting together a species profile and other info. What sort of stuff have you been working on in free time? :3
Do you have that posted anywhere? Oh - have you considered doing a fanart version of the winged wolf referenced in the Game of Thrones (Bran's dream being). I don't know if you're into that series, but when you mentioned winged doggies, I thought of it :p Do you have any links or are they on your Tumblr?
For me, I've been developing the Aurum species - there's not much art to show for it. But, I revamped Bladewind and developed a male counterpart and played with the sexual dimorphism. I've been thinking about outfits, but I've yet to do anything about it yet - but that's one reason I was excited about the lace in your other image. I only really have one solid image to show for the new design thus far:

Other than that, I've actually developed a renewed interest in traditional inking for the sake of Inktober, but may continue beyond this month:

I doooo have a head world tumblr, but I'm waiting till I have everything together to post the species profile - http://tea-feathers.tumblr.com/ I also don't have much to show for mine quite yet, but I have stuff in the works at least!
I have so much fan art I wanna make, I'm compiling a list! XD Included is definitely what you mentioned, I love Game of Thrones.
I love your Aurum, winged stuff ALWAYS gets me! <3
When I get on Tumblr next, I will add tea-feathers. It's good you have stuff in the works, which is more than I can say. I haven't gotten many of my ideas out on paper but once I've gotten my thesis project completely out of the way (and I am close - yay!) I'll have more time for it.
YAY Game of Thrones fan! Do you know when the next season starts?
Thank you for the compliment! I think the next Aurum I do will have some clothes, which will at least offer some cultural background :D

cooley
I love the idea of her shimmering appearance and being caught between two worlds. Will you be doing more of her?
