Thank you!
I really need to go read this frickin thing, people keep referencing it to me or comparing stuff I do to it. Is it the cowboy stuff? I understand it has cowboy stuff.
well partly yes; that is that the protagonist of the dark tower series is a sort of cowboy/knight/marshall type of guy and bears a certain superficial resemblance to devon, although I'd guess there are very considerable differences between them. still, this illustration and this one could be perfectly at home in some of the dark tower. also this one, with its starkness and crosshatching, especially considering its content, would fit perfectly as the penultimate illustration to the first novel in the series.
but, and I'm trying not to geek out too exuberantly over this subject, the series is quite trippy and far-ranging and the cowboy/western element is just one in a very complex recipe.
anyways if you're interested, the first book is comparatively short, and you can listen to the excellent audiobook of it narrated by George guidall, who's up there with frank muller (who also recorded some of the books in the series before his untimely demise) as an excellent audiobook narrator, on youtube.
at any rate, your art is amazing, and I can't wait to read wayfaring strangers =')
