Hoatzin ooak doll for Zhon by NimbleBun

Hoatzin ooak doll for Zhon

NimbleBun

Finished commission piece for :devZhon: She wanted an art doll of one of her favorite birds, the Hoatzin. I was also in love with this animal as soon as she showed me some pictures of it and I still can't believe those exist! they look so primal, its wonderful.

This doll is a combination of real feathers and faux fur. Its face and feet are resin cast with some epoxy work and the eyes are realistic bird eye. The skeleton is bear armature to keep this doll very light weight and highly articulate and stable. Even with all the layers of feathers, the wings are still very flexible and will be fun to play with and pose. This has been one of my favorite dolls to work on, it was a wonderful piece to experiment with.

Wingspan 28"
Height 9"
