Gon' E-Choo! Strip 1 (www.gonechoo.com)

Gonechoo

This is the first strip for the newspaper-style comic series "Gon' E-Choo!" It's also my first post to Weasyl. Hello everyone!

It takes place in the 1980's, when an otter wandering through his favorite swampy forest at the edge of his developing suburb runs into a rube of a gator who apparently has hibernated since the 1940's. It's a pastiche heavily inspired by Walt Kelly's Pogo. Lengthier information on this project can be found at www.gonechoo.com, which is running on Tumblr. Since Tumblr only allows 1280 across, the quality here will be better, though the comic will always be posted first there.

Technical Specs: Art Rage for Linework - Smoothing feature and the sense of 'real' art materials helps keep the retro-feel of a newspaper style comic. Original comic is 2400x9600, reduced and lightly watermarked at 500x2000.

Enjoy!

Have you ever read the comic strip Krazy Kat? I think you'd like it! It's like from the 1940's, I believe. Super silly and surreal.

I have - I especially like Herriman's strong assertion that none of the characters had a gender, being like 'sprites' .

YES! That's one of the main reason none of my characters really have a gender at all.

Except for the occasional slip-up in my own referencing, I always try to tag the characters with 'they'. It's up to the reader how they want to engender the characters, honestly.
