Wrigley by Idess

Wrigley

Watercolor Pet Portrait of my (former) foster dog, Wrigley :) Wrigley was adopted a few weeks ago, but I did this painting as a sort of experiment as well as a current example as am building up my Pet Portrait business locally and needed a fresh new example of my work!

A lot of this was an experiment and trial/error so I'm really happy with how it came out :3 Wrigley will be missed here at our house but I am so happy he found his forever home and has a new, permanent family!

Watercolor on Hot Press Paper, 9x12"

Pet portraits look a lot easier than they end up being. :[ You did an excellent job. Do you paint from a single photograph, multiples, or from real life modelling?

Thank you! Usually it varies depending on the quality and look of the animal in a photograph... most of the time when doing pet portraits on commission no one photo is 'perfect' so I end up using multiple photos. X3 This particular one however was based off of a photo that I took myself, so it was high quality but just had some lighting issues that the painting rendered better (in the photo half of his face was totally in dark shadow lol!).

This is lovely! The background splatter element is fantatic and gives the feeling thay he was a ball of energy.

Thank you! :D The splatter was the main experiment but I'm happy with the result, and yes he definitely was! I'm glad that was portrayed through the elements of the painting! X3
