I was trying to go for a sort of contrast, trying to bring the eyes to the character themselves with the lack of texture, similar to the way that blank space draws the eyes in an elaborate poster, but now that I look at it, I see where your coming from.
But regardless, thank you so much for the critique~ ^_^

I really like the textures you used in this: on the tags, the leather, the coat's collar. I particularly like the leather, because it's a nice soft texture that I didn't notice right away but that isn't super subtle have-to-squint-to-see-it. By comparison, though, the character looks like he only has skin and not fur. The fur that is shown on the stomach and around the face has a nice visual quality to it and would work just fine if not for the rest of the texture, but it makes the bulk of the character seem rather flatter than his clothing, since the texturing there is so nicely done.
