Smokepaw 3D Model - Version 1 (critique requested)

Smokepaw

Working on sculpting up Smokepaw's head in the hopes of helping create a custom fursuit mask.

I've never done anything with digital graphics before, so this is all new to me. Using the program Sculptis, which is the free version of ZBrush. Literally learning as I go! Unfortunately I think I may have to start over and try a different angle. Smokepaw is a wolf, not a doberman. ;)

About an hour's worth of work, cumulatively.

Critique is welcomed!

Having never done 3D modeling and seeing you say this is your first try at anything like this, I think this looks awesome! Have you been using reference? If getting angle right is the problem, you might try searching up some wolf videos on YouTube or some place similar and grabbing screenshots of the same wolf from different angles to use as shape reference.

I think part of the reason I ended up with a doberman head was due to the lack of a reference! No, this is indeed the first time doing this and while the result was not a wolf, its still pretty cool. :)

Unfortunately I'm a little hamstrung with my computer not having the capacity of handling much more detail than this without crashing. Hope to resolve that soon, though. I'll be using reference the next time!

      Thanks for the comments!

Cool art tends to be some of the best art, even if the end result wasn't the original goal. :)

Not familiar with Sculptis, but you might poke around the in-program settings and on the ZBrush forums for what options you can change to either slim down file size or improve the program's performance by dropping extra memory storage/allotting more computer resources to the program. Since Sculptis is essentially a slimmed-down version of ZBrush, those kinds of settings should be pretty much the same, since they're not fancy tools or convenience features.
