Bulbasaur - Full sculpt by Onissarle

Bulbasaur - Full sculpt

Onissarle

This is the completed sculpt I did of a bulbasaur, based on the illustration by twarda Twarda .

Original picture I used for reference:

https://www.weasyl.com/submission/46894

The irregular scales take forever to do but making them follow all the creases and folds makes it look much better. I could do some close ups if anyone wants to see.

wow so many details! this is so cool!

It took a fair few hours and my knuckles are complaining at me from holding the stylus so long but I think the final result was worth the effort. It's amazing what a subtle but distinct difference all the little details make.

oh I bet. It really came out great

Quite impressive, not my taste for the new style portrayed here, but it shows effort and very realistic style.

Hehe I if you could retop that I'd be more than happy to give crack at rigging and animating him

It's very pretty 3D rendition of my fanart. It's almost like I've imagined it. Well done. I have question about 3D software you use. What is it? Personaly I use Blender, because it's free and I'm curious about your program.

I've got a bunch of different software but this was done in Zbrush from start to finish. You couldn't make something like this in Blender. The nearest thing you can get for free is Sculptris, which is very easy to get the hang of.

I could give you a decimated version of the model to play with if you like.

Ah, Zbrush. I'm not a 3D modeler but I find interesting 3D modeling, so I heard about few programs before. Hm maybe you are right though I belive it is possible to achieve somewhat similar to this... Perhaps with much more efford? This is my last, and most complex, creation I've made with Blender: http://twarda.tumblr.com/post/7974752130/it-is-near-to-finish-dear-god-finally I did it as experiment and to learn some stuff.

I like testing programs so I may check the Sculptris when I get some time for 3D modeling.

That's nice of you but, unless Zbrush can save in .blend format, I don't think I could view the model.

If it was saved as a .obj, I'm sure Blender could open it.

I have doubts :S (but I haven't tried to open other 3D files with Blender).

Fancy seeing you here btw. Since I'm talking with you: thanks for following.

I've crunched it down to a more reasonable poly count and converted it to blender format for you. If you'd like a copy to play with. just drop me a PM.

This would be even more amazing with a texture applied.

I'm planning on giving it a full paint job. I might have time to do it properly later this week.
