Ascending Spirits

Hajinn

~A secluded, almost neglected nursery in the heart of suburbia vignetted by the silhouettes of infants and toddlers busy articulating the joints on their action figures or manipulating dolls with all the dexterity of a novice puppeteer. Amid the controlled chaos lie a pile of disheveled stuffed animals that even the youngest children find too behind and, upon its periphery, lie a maned panda with neon green trim - slumped over, so thoroughly ostracized that it's even forbidden from residing with the old and dilapidated. Truly, a model pariah.

Ambling over comes a child hewn in monochrome, drying his face with a sleeve lopped over his hand as he had just begun to recover from being cast out by a popular clique in the day care. Flouncing into a corner beside the pile of plushies, he folded his arms - struggling to convince himself that he need not for such 'meanies'. 'Twas a full ten minutes before he dare move from his dower pose to see the bear beside him - poised in such a fashion that mirrored his own sullen mood. For quite some time, he just stared in its general direction, feigning disinterest afore inching his fingers closer. Then, in a single fluid motion, the panda was scooped from her seat and into blithe, quivering arms. It was a small comfort, but it was just enough to spread a smile across that nubile visage.

It was just enough to make a certain doll, previously denied privilege to any and all affection, feel...useful again.

You know, I’m not quite sure if this has ever been done before, but yeah – I just countered someone’s vent art with MORE ART. S’bit like fighting fire with fire, only not at all. Regardless, Lizzie – appearing here in her vulnerable state – has been going through a lot lately. She’s confided in me, so I’m not about to spout off at the hip with the specifics, but just know that this isn’t your run of the mill funk. It’s one of the reasons I was so compelled to grab Salem for this. Why? One, he draws adorable artwork as effortlessly as you and I blink and two, because silhouette practice~! Needless to say, I do pray for Lizzie’s expedient recovery and this is basically the artistic way of letting her know that I’ll be there for her – even if I’m completely and utterly out of it.

Cheers, sweetheart!

Take it one day at a time.
