I thank you for that piece of nostalgia. I remember seeing that movie a LONG time ago, can't remember most of it. I don't really see any connection here, but such amorphous creatures do often tend to look alike to some folks. If anything I'd relate your bio missile to Invids (Robotech) or maybe Tyranid Biomorphs (Warhammer 40K)

Kinda reminds me, in only the most superficial ways, of the pods in the GI Joe animated movie. Those things wriggled and looked like the top one. But they were very different. They mutated whatever their spores touched. And... they were rockets.
