Hampton knew he screwed up, and while Vetina was very forgiving, Hampton feared what he did would ruin the reputation of his boss's restaurant.

Earlier, Hampton boasted that he had worked 10 days straight to a customer. Even on his days off he helps prepare clean and prepare for the days they are open. That customer had some concerns. As one who was sensitive to work conditions the cutomer implied that Vetina was a slave driver. In the heat of the moment Hampton blurted out that he would take the day off. To prove that his boss was a kind digimon who never asked for more than what he could deliver.

One day without being near the apple of his eye. He hoped, however, that this wouldn't harm her reputation. And, as they say, absense makes the heart grow fonder.

Vetina was at least greatful. She knows how hard he works, and perhaps for his efforts he should at least get a day off.
