So I sorta keep accidentally over-refining my "rough sketches" (a common problem among artists, I've heard), so I tried to do a little art on my own time to make an example of what a rough sketch is actually supposed to be. It still came out a bit too clean, but it's definitely more in line with what I'm aiming for. I GOTTA GET BETTER AT DRAWING WORSE, DANGIT!

I tried using my own sona, Ettie, as the insert character for this example, and I realized it was actually my first time ever trying to draw her in my current style! Consequently, I really wasn't sure what to expect, or how I even wanted to attempt representing her — I'm so used to seeing her drawn by others, after all! In the end, I still don't think it's exactly what I'm looking for, but I'm pleased with how it came out anyway. I'm looking forward to more chances to experiment!
