My first revenge!
I wanted to try a semi-painted aesthetic with this, but I wasn't conformable going completely lineless, so I opted to color in a more refined sketch.
I wanted to play off the idea that Woodstock Johnson was in an era where photos were still colorless, and having a portrait in color meant having it be painted. I guess a mini-story to it is that an artist paid Mr. Johnson to model so he could depict the backbone of society and what not.
I used a reference from line-of-action.com to help me with proportions and what not to capture the feel I wanted from this drawing better.
