A bobcat, with its quick reflexes, is likely to dart a clawed hand up even for an unexpected falling leaf. Iye's done that here, even if he also recognizes what it is. As in all things, he has a quiet, calm nature in considering it.

He's a being that shouldn't exist, born in the mid 1300s in a primitive tribe in another world's analogue to ours, a young warrior somehow carried to the present day. So much has changed, and yet a falling leaf, the changing of the seasons has not changed at all.

He's likely to go off and climb a tree and consider that for a while. He is a thoughtful cat, after all.
