It's no secret that Iraya is quite magically inclined, from having worked in the field during a fair few perilous excursions to just how naturally she's able to demonstrate her skills to passersby without exerting much effort. Part of that strength comes not from intense practice of specific magics themselves, but rather a refined ability to draw arcane energy from other sources and put it to work. Acting somewhat like a conduit, when Iraya has access to tomes, artifacts or even other beings that are attuned to certain types of magic, she's able to manipulate and augment her own abilities with what she has available. Although her skills alone are nothing to laugh at, the scale at which she flourishes the elements at her disposal is often quite impressive!
