This is a special piece, and the start of a new personal art series I'm making based on the Egyptian mythology. The theme for these is "Egyptian gods doing normal everyday things," and this image here is the one that fits the prompt the least - probably because it's an updated version of a commission I made long ago. However, it's always been a popular print and one that I too like a lot, so it was a no-brainer to update it as an ice-breaker for this series.
A few more tweaks are to be had, but overall I feel it's much improved. Especially the background, which I drew originally with very bizaare perspective. It STILL has non-standard perspective but, you know, it's actually mostly accurate now (thanks tarepyn you're a lifesaver).
WHY did I choose to go Egyptian for this? Simply, beause Egyptian mythology has always been my favorite. Believe it or not I drew a pretty huge marker drawing of Ammit back in the day. I think I liked the heavy animal aspect as a kid (surprise surprise), and I've always been a genuine hipster so Greek/Roman mythology turned me off (though if I had known more about norse mythology as a teenager that may have been a close contender). I have a tiered list of all the gods I want to depict so, hopefully over time this will become quite the collection ^-^
If you've read this far, stay tuned for the next image in this series which will go up next time I post :3
