When I realized one of the things my universe lacked is clearly defined villains, I decided to dive into the depths of my gallery and find some old, forgotten designs that might work for that purpose. This is what happened.

That feeling when you go back and update an old forgotten villain design of yours, and kinda sorta accidentally turn them into the Antichrist...

He is now known as Asmodeus Astorath, and he's effectively the Pope if the Pope were secretly the Antichrist and the head of the Illuminati as it is depicted in pop culture and conspiracy theories. I decided to keep the "master manipulator" angle in there, but he now presents himself as a unicorn and a religious leader. He's in the perfect position of power, being effectively the Pope and able to claim a direct connection to the divine. After all, what is a king to a god? Many of his "miracles" consist of merely undoing things he did himself, and the "holy retribution" that befalls "sinners" is often his own doing.

His influence as a religious leader means he can manipulate virtually anyone to do anything, claiming it to be the "will of god". He's also the reason that the Equine nation, where he resides, seems to resist a lot of modern technology and favor the "traditional ways". He cannot manipulate machines, and knowledge can interfere with his plans, so the internet is actually probably the greatest weapon against him. Of course he's also ridiculously powerful magically and can just resort to "oh to hell with it, I'll just blow things up" but that would reveal him for what he is.

He is the church, the Illuminati, the Freemasons. Being a dragon of sorts he even fits the whole "serpent deceiver" angle to Satan. He is what is pulling the strings just about everywhere. And he's playing the long game, so I don't have to out him as a villain right away by having him do villainous things. He can take his time, play politics, pontificate from his cathedral, stir up strife which furthers his agenda of enslaving the entire world (or perhaps even the entire galaxy), and amass the wealth necessary to buy out those who don't buy into his religious approach.
