Very true. I'm sure he could go back in there and bet them in an attempt to win at least some of his stuff back, but then he'd probably wind up outside again but completely naked.

I've also sometimes considered him actually losing himself in a card game, and winding up as someone else's servant or pet as a result. That could be fun.
