The being most people know as Draythix was originally a human named Darion. Seemingly born with the powers of a fiery dragon, Draythix tried to do his best to use his abilities to help people. However, the more he used his abilities, the more dragon rage threatened to send him on a murderous rampage.

Eventually, Draythix tried to find a cure for his rage. However, this leads him to discover truths about himself and discover a companion that he had no idea had been with him all his life.

This is an extremely personal story for me. Draythix (originally known as Matrix) has been my dragonsona for over a decade, and he was very important to me even while I was away from the fandom. However, despite how much he has meant to me, I have always felt oddly disconnected from him. I usually tried to treat Draythix as 'me, but as a dragonshifter', but that never felt quite right to me.

Recently, I have realized that I'm more interested in having Draythix as a companion than simply being him. This also gave me an opportunity to update him so that his powers and abilities are more in line with my interests. Because of all this I felt compelled to write a story about this change to the character.

Despite these changes, I still consider Draythix my dragonsona. That's one of the main reasons I made him into a sort of symbiotic spirit ;)

This is the first time I have put this much emotion into a story, so I hope that it doesn't seem weird that this is basically about an alternate version of me interacting with my dragonsona. ^^
