Glow (2014) by LordDominic

Glow (2014)

LordDominic

2014 art, another random creature design.

Description from the original submission page:

I have no idea what to call it besides a "moon dog", which is pretty unoriginal and meaningless as names go, but it's a canine with a bio-luminescent growth similar to what anglerfish have. Something like this could actually be advantageous were the creature an insectivore, as it would attract bugs... or if it was attached to a puppy, it could be incredibly impractical as they would be constantly distracted by it.

Cute little doggy! He reminds me of a dog I used to have. She didn't have a bioluminescent growth on her head, but she did like to jump up and catch flies in her mouth.

Thank you very much! At least bugs are protein, right?

I really do love dogs. I had one that would bark at fireflies. He never tried to catch them, though. I've heard more than a few stories about dogs that would eat bees, though, oddly enough...

I've never heard that one before. My dog would see a fly buzzing over her head, and then she'd jump up and try to catch it. Usually she was successful.

Oh, what kind of dog was she? Mine was a mostly collie mutt.

Also, if you're interested, I found an updated version of this concept and uploaded it here too:

At this point, I had changed the appearance a bit to match with some other alien creatures I had designed, and the tongue glows now rather than having a distracting dangling light hanging off an antenna.

The dog I was telling you about was an American Eskimo dog. And I think your dog was very cute.

I also like your updated version of that doggy artwork. I faved and commented it.
