Portrait Series: Otter by Bugswithfurcoats

Portrait Series: Otter

Bugswithfurcoats

Earlier in the week, I thought to myself, "i'm going to test something out with these 6x9 sheets of paper and these fancy watercolors." I liked the first result so much I decided to do a small series of portraits.

This first one features blackshirtboy blackshirtboy's Otter. Ya know, for all the times I've seen this Otter pop up, it's hard to find reference when you need it...

Since I know nobody really gives a damn about rambly Journal entries about nothing in particular, I'm going to insert a ramble nobody asked for on watercolors into these descriptions. ENJOY~

I think everyone should take up at least one analog medium. I’m no Digital vs. Analog snob, but there really is a different state of mind and a different kind of discipline you get from traditional art processes.

For one thing, I managed to do these pretty little portraits without it taking up my entire day because I wasn’t sitting on front of the screen I use for work, research, play, socializing, and so on, using the device that does everything and constantly tempts you to switch tasks for the heck of it. I know it’s not fashionable to say anything negative about screentime and the computers and electronic devices that have become ubiquitous and even mandatory in our lives, but I’ve come to realize that there’s no denying the truth of the matter: You have to put down the duckie if you want to play the saxophone.
