I thought, "hey, you know what'd make a great weapon for a small creature? Pen spear, grabbed straight from an inkwell." and then everything started to escalate from there. This is some kind of climactic battle I'm sure. Not sure exactly what the context is, but, I think both of them are the champion of Someone on the sidelines, if the ribbons are any indication, and the ducking one is probably the good guy that's a bit of a scoundrel, mr pen is probably Lawful Well-intentioned but A Little Extreme Sometimes.
