Dino Diplomacy

“I’m so sorry sorry sir,” the dinosaur valet said for the tenth time, “I honestly didn't mean for this to happen… the hotel will make full restitution for the damage.”

Wafting a hand before his face to clear away the smoke Vikris stared at the crisp, burnt ruin of his formal clothes. Sighing heavily the maroon and red kobold turned to look up at the dinosaur, “Just how did this happen? I was only gone an hour.”

“I was trying to press your trousers sir,” the dinosaur mumbled, “Your over vest sparkled electricity and I dropped the iron and it scattered sparks out of the fire.”

Vikris stared up at him, “You’re new at this being a valet aren't you boy?”

“My name is Rawr and yes but I know how to do ironing, I really don't know what happened… but it’s OK sir, we have a tailor who can…”

“That won't do,” Vik cut him off, regarding the dinosaur with a curiously weighting gaze, “All my formal wear is from a creature I've defeated, if you'd done your job you'd know you don't iron fur, let alone mess with a mage’s clothes.”

“Sir…. I… I am so sorry.”

“It’s OK Rawr was it?” Vik pulled off his coat and continued to strip down until he was standing in his bare scales. The puzzled dinosaur nodded his head, “Well I'll try to remember your name but you see, you'll count just well as a monster.”

Rawr opened his mouth to answer but got no words came out. In fact he found his jaws widening, his body elongating and flattening out all at once. It was a very peculiar feeling and against his will he found his feet lifting off the floor and drifting, unravelling as he flowed through the air toward the kobold.

His body twisted, turned, slipped and slid around Vikris waist, coiled about his arms and thighs, contracting, transmuting into folds of fabric, golden claps and a segmented hood. Rawr watched in horror as what had been his body transmuted entirely, every vestige of what he had been being wiped out. The light scaled cloth, the folds of golden inlaid fabric had little remnant of the dinosaur he had been.

The last part to be transmuted was his head, his stretching features smoothed out, becoming a beautiful, jewel topped Egyptian headdress to compliment Vik’s new outfit. Somehow Rawr could still see but against all sense there was no trace of his body remaining. Just scaled fabric and accessories, his dinosaur body transformed into nothing but clothing.

“Well a bit rushed,” Vikris commented as he adjusted his knew loincloth and kilt, “But you'll do Rawr, welcome to your new career dinosaur, clothing.”
