When a mother yao-stalker's cubs reach a certain size, she begins bringing them live prey to teach them how to hunt.

This includes live but disarmed humans. She will induce them to bite and paralyze it, then make sure the cub swallows it without issue. If the prey proves too large the mother may tear it apart and feed it to several cubs but an experienced mother yao-stalker has a good grasp of what a cub can handle and will get a woman or small human for smaller cubs.There are a series of lessons to learn:

1. You don't have an unlimited supply of paralyzing venom, but use it when you need to. Dangerous prey should be paralyzed before feeding.

2. Never take on more than one human or other two-leg at a time. Unless it is a small, weak and unarmed two-leg, paralyze it.

3. You should always use your cloaking ability when approaching two-legs. Solitary ones should be crept up on, paralyzed and eaten where no one else can see.

4. Swallow them headfirst so if they recover from the venom halfway down, they can't stop you from finishing the meal. Once their arms are pinned by your jaws they are lunch even if they recover their strength.

5. Always strip away anything other than clothes (and maybe strip away those too). You can probably cough up the armor later but no one wants a Pip Boy or similar sized item trying to leave your body the other way. Obviously, anything that might be a weapon has to be taken away before eating.

6. All of these rules can be ignored if you are in a hurry or very hungry but be aware there may be consequences if you do. Mother learned these lessons from her own mother or via hard experience.

The teaching of these lessons leads many paralyzed humans to realize to their horror that a yao-stalker cub not much bigger than they are (or maybe even a bit smaller) is about to swallow them alive, but sacrifices need me made to teach the next generation, after all.
