OH BOY JURASSIC WORLD 2 COMES OUT THIS MONTH, LET'S CELEBRATE WITH SOME GOOD OLD FASHIONED SCIENCE-SHUNNING """DINOSAURS"""
Remember kids, accuracy sucks and nature isn't cool unless it roars
Who needs research when you can have HOLLYWOOD
Aywas RCC for the month of June. I cackled to myself the whole way through drawing this. Aros (#4353) actually one-upped me by editing it back into a JP-style "raptor" seen [here] hahaha!
Decided to try switching up the format from how I usually display these.

LIKE ok to be fair. I love feathered dinos but I see these guys as more like, monster movie creatures. they're not the way actual dinos probably were but that doesn't mean they can't be cool in their own way as big goofy monsters
Don't get me wrong, I totally love hybridization of dinos as a plot point. Even rooting around my gallery you can see a lot of my art revolves around splicing creatures together, so I'm clearly a fan of the subject. I'm just not okay with the continued Hollywood-driven diluting of what dinosaurs really are/were. Creating dino-inspired monsters is one thing, but creating [anatomical aberrations] and then labeling it a "velociraptor" as if it is the same creature is another matter.
JW feels like a slap in the face to all we've learned about dinosaurs since the 1990's, and you can see how damaging the results are when trying to find an accurate representation of a dinosaur and only getting JW-style monsters with attributes that have been disproven since the 1960's. We unfortunately don't have the luxury of going down to our local zoo and seeing a real dinosaur like most other animals, so when JW - being the prominent franchise that it is - becomes the only representation of these creatures that a majority of the general public ever sees, they get a hugely false idea of what these creatures were and about the paleosciences focused on them.
