Mark's backstory in the Star Trek universe:

Mark isn't actually human - he's from Species 8472. He was on one of the terraspheres when he was younger (about 20-25 years ago), where he learned to act like a human. Eventually he decided to live as a human full-time. He underwent a procedure that would make him forget most of his memories while he was human, so they only surface when he goes back to his original form.

He married Mojisola in an office on Tellar. They have one kid, Jonathan, who's biologically 100% human, even though Mark isn't. Mojisola is a lieutenant but Mark's just a civilian.

By the way, if this wasn't a Star Trek thing, I would take out Mekor Vorak and put Mark in his position instead. (I'd also make Jeremy human and change some of the species names.)
