Apollo by Tonin

Apollo

Apollo

From the temple of Apollo
Comes the odor of decay
All the promise of tomorrow
Become lies of yesterday

We rose on wings of ashes
And the heavens knew our tread
But the dream of old, it passes
And the gods, they all are dead

No one can walk across the sky
Without a leap of faith
And Challengers, they only die
When we accept their fate

Yet the temple stands deserted
New powers hold us sway
And we stand with eyes averted
As his wings are cut away

Yea, Apollo crumbles
There's no new Challenger
And in the dust we stumble
No more than what we were

Just as well, really. Heaven's too nice a place for humans.

But are they really dead, or did Zeus just realize that Mt. Olympus was actually very climbable and pack up shop to Olympus Mons?

But is it far enough? Those new upstarts keep saying they'll go to Mars in the next five years. On the other hand, they've been saying that for the last fifteen or twenty, so maybe Zeus knew what he was doing after all. X3
