Judge Jury, Executioner by Deriaz

Judge Jury, Executioner

Deriaz

A grayscale commission for PanScolipede. What do you do when you've upset an electric eel, who already looked like he could bend a steel girder, and now is coming at you with a sword and electricity? ... Look, I'm needing a quick answer, I don't like how he's looking at me. D:

I always enjoy a good grayscale commission. They're good opportunities to practice my brushwork, anatomy, lighting, stuff like that. I had way too much fun with this one. Pan challenged me to go big as well, so I tried my best to see if I could make the anatomy make sense at that size -- still a little unsure how lats and obliques sort of navigate space at this size, but I'm very happy with what I came up with in every other area. I also took this as an opportunity to try and see how Truss would look with a more eel-like face compared to the face I used in his sketch, with his permission. More rounded-point snout, mainly. I like the look. Very sleek~

I really like the pose--the "coming at you" stride--and the effect work on this piece! :)

Thank you!! It's been a bit since I've done this sort of stance. I'm so, so pleased with how much easier it came to me -- before, I felt like I had made the character float. It seems like it's all about the feet for this kind of stance...!

        You're most welcome! :D

Yeah, the weight on the legs should show gravity's working--but I get what you mean! XD
