In the Pride flag, the color purple represents spirit. I wanted to create artwork that conveyed the feeling of two souls intertwined with each other. I picked lions because I love the play on the word "pride" but also because I wanted the manes to blend and weave together in a way that expresses the fusing of two souls.

Love requires that we open ourselves to and share vulnerable pieces of ourselves with our partners. We give them a bit of who we are and receive a part of them in return. This means we must trust each other, in order for them to allow us to protect them and for us to allow them to protect us.

I wanted to have both lions in this piece look as if they are both guarding the other through their own time of day.
