Fish (Feelings, Subconscious)
Fish swims beneath the surface. Fish are gill-bearing creatures, lacking in limbs, and live in the waters of the world. As a group of organisms, fish consist of diverse species, inhabiting both fresh and seawater. Fish have the unique ability to filter air out of the water that passes through their gills. The belief of water as representing feelings and emotions made fish, the inhabitants of water, symbolic of these traits themselves. Typical fish species are streamlined for rapid swimming, with tail fins that propel them where they want to go. Many bony fish have an organ known as a swim bladder that adjusts their buoyancy. It may have been the ability to move up and down, as well as forward, in the water that linked fish with the power to navigate the subconscious mind.

In the Book of Jonah it was a 'great fish' that swallowed the prophet Jonah; though this is sometimes seen as a whale. Stories of half-human, half-fish, mermaids, exist in cultures worldwide, including the Near East, Europe, Africa and Asia. In Asia the carp in particular was seen as sacred because of their beauty, size, and lifespan. A simplified fish shape is often used as a symbol of Christianity, as a reminder of the miracles that Jesus performed. In Greek mythology fish were sometimes seen as symbolic of change and transformation. This link is shown in the story of Aphrodite and Heros transforming into fish to escape Typhon.

When fish swims into your reading it may be time to examine your feelings. What emotions are lingering beneath the surface? Are you able to easily navigate your subconscious? What feelings are you living in? Water is the element that is linked to fish.

Astrology-(Western Pisces Feb 19- Mar 20) The western sign of Pisces is honest and trustworthy. This water sign likes to keep a low profile and can come across as mysterious. Pisces are determined and become devoted to their causes. Sometimes Pisces can be gullible however and need to be cautious of others taking advantage of this. Imaginative Pisces will often escape to their own world. Pisces love knowledge but they shine the most at being the devoted and gentle people they really are.
