Okay, before I talk about this new story: No Sex. At least not in this one. There might (and knowing me, that means very likely) be some in the later Acts of this series, but none in this one specifically.

I've had this idea swimming around my head for a long time. It came from the inspiration of two things: SAO (Sword Art Online, the first season anyway), and the music video for Within Temptation's "And We Run", because it was such an awesome beginning to a story that would (sadly) not be continued.

That being said, Light Escapes is alot like SAO. As in; it takes most of it's place within a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). The people inside are aware of such things and tend to "Meta" [Use Real World Knowledge Within The Game, much like breaking the Fourth Wall] their way through it. They speak of it as a game, recognize the Non-Player Characters/AIs as such, and often use a language that other players understand.

If you haven't actually played one, it's alright. I've explained most of the Jargon of MMO terms as they come up through the story. As long as you keep in mind that they are players, this should be easy enough to follow and still enjoy.

Once again, a more combat heavy story, I'm still practicing and experimenting how to write them well. I feel that I still need to do some work in this department, so I'm kinda scratching the surface of a more E-W feel with Light Escapes. Unlike most Games, which primarily focus on combat of some sort, this is where the SAO part comes in:

If there's one reason why I loved the anime, it's because they got it right. How the main character tends to go through alot of mental and emotional pain, even though it's "Just a game." If you remember the scene I wrote within Where The Frost Rose Withers (Unlikely it'll ever appear on Weasyl), the one with Lyago laying in the desolate land, I myself went through alot of pain (A. Lot. Of. Pain.) when it came to this style of social interaction. However, I won't attempt to bring my own experiences to life with this story. It will more or less shine light on some things that many people have either experienced themselves, or may understand what others are going through that have been hurt by such things like I have. Let alone the addiction towards gaming (a bit).

Those are my goals for this story. One I might be jumping around a bit, perhaps attempting to finish up Afterlife at the same time. Or at least attempt to, because well... Summertime heat sucks. And... Summertime Storms suck. (Elegantly put, Bartan)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this semi-comical, and probably very strangely put together story. As for the icon, I'll change it sometime over the weekend. I just used the same one I had for Zhaiothe's Tale for now. (Mostly because I just wanted to post this tonight).
