The fifth chapter of the first draft was so awful that I dreaded rewriting it considerably. However, when I started doing so, I realized that only a few pieces from the first draft were cancerous. I thus removed them and left the core of the chapter pretty much unchanged. I still am not too big a fan of what I wrote here, but it is, IMMENSELY better. It's all I could ask for really...
Now I am not a fan of ALL of the first eight chapters... but the worst them are over. Hopefully we'll have smoother sailing from here on out...
