A ginger haired youth barely out of his teens hiked along the road next to the forest, pausing by a fork in the road. Adjusting the hood on his auburn anorak, he debated taking the Serial Path through the Great Forest, a short cut to Grandmother's Keep.

Before setting out, there had been the oft repeated warning from his parents. The Forest is Worgen land; off limits to humans.

The wolfen creatures had claimed the forest when he was a child. In a great ceremony, they had signed a treaty in his Grandmother's Keep. Defining their forest boundaries with human ones.

He recalled playing with their leader's pup during the ceremony. The pup, with bewitching yellow eyes, handily beat him in a wrestling match. The impish creature sat atop him and triumphantly buried his face in slurps. The pup's name being...

"Hey Red!" Came a voice from the Serial Path.

No one, except his parents, called him by that nickname! The youth turned his gaze towards the overgrown, grassy trail. A bough bridged the pathway like a toll gate. The old red sign was still there.

Beware of Wolves

Standing behind the bough, arms resting over the top, was a furred, upright lupine. A worgen.

The startled youth's hood fell back. He could walk beneath that bough without ducking! Staring at a shapely furred chest, he shifted his gaze up into the enchanting yellow orbs of a she worgen.

"Red Riding," She crooned, "We wrestled when the treaty was signed!"

"Wrona! You've..."

"Grown," Wrona replied, wagging a bushy tail. "You remembered!"

"Your eyes..."

"The better to see you with. Watcha doing?"

The hooded youth glanced around, "Going to Grandma's keep. Deliver this basket."

"Long way to the Keep."

"Yeah."

"Might take all day. Why not take this path? It's much shorter."

"But the Treaty."

"I'll accompany you. You'll be fine."

Breathing heavily, he turned down the path and walked beneath the bough. He looked up as Wrona flicked her tongue over a huge nose.

"My, what big teeth you have Wrona," he nervously joked.

"All the better, Red. Maybe this time, we can take our time wrestling..."

With that, the pair went into the woods.
