Pines and firs, a summer shield
From the hot August sun crisping grass,
But deep within the Black Forest
A cool oasis, halcyon
Deep blue-green and rich rust-red
Heady pine needles baked in the sun
A kind of quiet
Shelter and secret
A world away.
Very much looking forward to visiting the Black Forest in Germany this August. It may be strange to say, but ever since I was a child, I've had dreams about what my brain has called "the Black Forest". No idea if the real Black Forest will be the same! But I'm not expecting it to be - I'm sure it will be just as magic, even if a different type of magic than my dreams remember.

As I predicted, WAY different than the black and white version. Color does SO much to change the focus and how the eye moves on the picture.
