UNCANNY VALLEY AAAAAAAAAAAAAH
This here is the front cover for "The Shirt," a book I wrote for my senior thesis project in 2015. I painted it in oils on 22"x28" canvas. I think I finished it in a week and a half. I'm proudest of the clouds and Dempsey's hair. It was really tricky to paint the weird semi-human facial structure of my character species from that angle, though, especially Dempsey's since his face is so bony.
I really wanted to meld the title of the book into the composition itself, as opposed to painting a scene and superimposing text on top of the illustration. I find that things meld together better that way.
