Morning Mist by Windfalcon

Morning Mist

Windfalcon

A while ago I visited some friends in Binghamton, and while driving along, the New York hills were billowing with mist. Misty, forested hills are pretty much my favorite place to be, so the drive was even more pleasant than normal.

I'm aiming to work with more subdued palettes, and if you know how I paint, usually I try to mash every color in the palette in there. I tried to limit myself to just a few colors for the background - colbalt blue, hooker's green, pthalo green, yellow ochre, and a little payne's gray. The gryphon and cliffs are burnt umber, dioxazine violet, and colbalt blue. Of course I added little white gouache for the mist and the spots.

6X6 watercolor on cold-press paper. The size on your screen is about how big it is in real life.
