if The Animals of Farthing Wood had been popular in the US it would have probably done for foxes what Balto did for wolves and what The Lion King did for lions in terms of weirdly enduring art-style-mimicking internet fandom. it was ostensibly about a group of animals who agreed not to eat each other in order to travel from a forest that the opening theme would have you believe was literally encased in concrete right there where it stood to a wildlife park but from the second series onwards as far as i recall the focus of the plot was on the absurd romeo and juliet fox drama between the regular foxes and the bad foxes who already lived in the park. in the book the bad foxes were just regular foxes who were bad but in the cartoon they made them blue and pretended that blue foxes were not only a thing but a thing that occurs naturally in the wild. God knows why. Lady Blue and Scarface were a Sinister Cockney Duo ?? I guess they were supposed to be fox gangsters or something.

anyway Lady Blue is my favourite character. She was basically Mme Thenardier but a fox. What a great cartoon.
