Do you know exactly what kind of emotion and story you want to convey from the start, or you improvise using intuition and feel for it? Perhaps you're drawing panels at random, throwing scenes as they come to your mind and hope it would make a good mix? Or you have plans for every single detail, carefully placed and planned from script to storyboard and sketches?

It doesn't make much of a difference, though. You made a touching story and that's all that matters. Blessed be all who made it possible. <3

thank you for reading!! it was all very planned, i did several drafts, a lot was cut out. it was a little less ambient at first, there was more detail about the orphanage and what alpin did there, other children, and about his father, etc. but it was all cut out bc i wanted a more ambient and lonely feel.

Good to hear. Yes, the lonely feeling is so deep, palpable, it's almost like some kind of meditative comic. Furry zen? Something like that. Not detaching, but keeping you close.

The cutting down worked, then. Good job.

Having read the entire thing, I'm not even sure what to make of it. It's an interesting read, just... at the end I feel adrift.

I'm left hoping that someday Somerled gets on another ship, crosses the sea to America and finds his way to Alpin. But knowing that in the same way that Somerled's father never returned and Alpin's father never got to speak his final thoughts... It's a conclusion that's not really possible, is it?

TBH I really don't know! Confronting and experiencing incompleteness is a big theme of the story. I'm really not sure if they meet again, but they experienced some comfort for a time with one another, so maybe the memory will be something to cherish from time to time.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope the story had some meaning for you :)
