I had this idea in my head for a little while, and when I saw that a traditional art group over on dA was putting on a contest centered around rebirth, I decided to try actualizing my idea. I was originally going to do this in ink, the contest stipulates entries must be in pencil which is such a daunting media.

I was inspired by the appearance of veins in leaves while the sun, moon, and roses are all traditional symbols of rebirth.
