...but also interesting because if you go back to the ruins at the end of the true pacifist run, you run into Asriel as a child, and he also tells you "just forget about me" and things along the same lines
I WONDER IF THERES A CONNECTION
Like maybe Gaster is a combination of souls from the departed monsters, in which we know that Asriel lost his soul to become flowey
Maybe thats why in the true lab when you fight the memoryhead discs or whatever, their attack looks suspiciously also like Gaster's face
Maybe W.D. Gaster was the original royal scientist, but whatever his last experiment was, caused him to become a vessel for all the departed souls????
Or maybe I'm theorizing too much-
YOU KNOW I NEVER NOTICED THE MEMORYHEAD THING??? BUT WHEN YOU POINT IT OUT, THEY REALLY DO?? Like also the memoryheads don't really seem to follow the theme of the amalgamates, they're not a combination of any other monster they're just... faces?? They way they phase in and out of the screen is really creepy too, like they're not really a part of this reality or they're trying to die and can't or something? Either way it'd be cool if they were tied in with gaster :O
A lot of the text in this game seems to tie in with other seemingly unrelated text. "But nobody came" seems to be a running theme in a lot of battles? //spoilers ahead
It obviously originates from when Asriel/flowey was first shouting for help as a flower, but as he says "nobody came". He kind of mocks you with this too in the true pacifist final battle as the god of hyperdeath when you have to struggle and he just says "but nobody came" not to mention it's kind of the tagline for the genocide run once you've killed all the monsters in a given area? I think lemonbread says it also. So it's probably likely that "just forget about me" has the same kind of tie-in with Gaster, since it appears multiple times?? We know so far that Gaster WAS the old royal scientist and he created the core, but he "fell into his creation". It never actually says "the core" just "his creation" so maybe it was something else tied to the D.T EXTRACTER in the lab? Idk I'm really rambling now I'm sorry haha-

Yeah I'm beginning to wonder if thats the overlying feeling with ALL the monsters. Theyre stuck down there, have been forever, and I'm sure they're all VERY lonely. And I also thought he fell into the D.T. Extractor, but I think also that could be why hes now a conduit for all the other lost monster souls maybe??? Idk I'm rambly too xD
