When Xalibi tried to steal the moon, Edith ended up in his lap. She's very loyal and fancies herself a protector. She can communicate to the residents of the Underearth both verbally and telepathically if she chooses, but to the "living" people, she can't communicate any better than the average coyote. It suits Edith fine since she is a very quiet individual and rarely speaks even to those who can hear her. When she does choose to interject, her sass levels rival even Jonah's. She's the only one down there smart enough to be able to put him in his place without resorting to violence.
