Urf, this is so gorgeous. And such a delightful twin to the lioness I bought from you, I wish I could snag him as well. I love the atmosphere to this piece, even though there is so little actual background. Just the lighting sets it. Love this. The emotion in that one eye!

One technical question: How do you keep these wooden plates from breaking? I wanted to draw on wood myself a bit ago but before I even started the slices "worked" on and that resulted in some very ugly cracks. However, I also know my grandma had a saying on such a plate hanging on the wall for at least 50 years without a change, so.. How do you do that?-
I've never had any cracking issues to be honest, how thick of a piece have you been working on? It does help to make sure the wood has sat in your house to adjust to humidity before you start painting, but I've never had any issues.

I don't remember well, I think they were 2-3 cm thick. They were actually sold as toy for small pets (rats, ferrets,..) in the shop where I used to buy hay for my bunnies. Maybe it's the wrong kind of tree? As far as I know it's probably wood from an apple tree, not walnut.
