Belle wanted deeply to outrank the feat that Mikhail had pulled off on the day of his 32nd birthday, but on this occasion she did not know when he would return home. She had taken a day off to attend a doctor's appointment and a hospital appointment, although neither of them were sure when Mikhail would return from his shift. This meant that all she could do was hope and wait that he would get back sooner than they hoped they would. Throughout the day, all she could do was chat with her friends online, sneak in a call to her mother, and occupy herself in various ways. But she had to admit to herself - love had a suffocating hold on her, for no matteer what she tried to do, she could not erase the feeling of aching, which would soon morph into despair. It felt like half of her was missing; though she knew Mikhail would return soon, she longed for him, desired him intensely. She missed his cuddles, his kiss, his closeness, and the way he made her feel like the greatest skunk who ever lived. She didn't care how - she wanted him, needed him, loved him with all her heart.

Night fell, and still she had heard nothing from him. This was until the phone rang while she watched a news bulletin, and with anticipation, she grabbed it.

"Hello?"

"Hey sweetie, it's Mickey." Her heart gave a leap - the sound of his voice was what she had been awaiting.

"Oh Mickey, hiya!" beamed Belle. "I was just thinking about you."

"You've been on my mind the whole day too." replied Mikhail. "I'm just about done here for the day. Why don't I...come on over, hm?" Belle's heart began to race like a drag racer's engine. But then, she formed an idea that made her smile. It was one she thought he would love.

"Why don't I come to you instead?" she thought. "What time can you make?"

"I'm on my way now." said Mikhail. "See you in a few minutes!"

"See you soon!" replied Belle. "I love you!"

"Love you too!" And with that, he hung up. With no hesitation, Belle stepped out into the heavy snow and drove for Mikhail's home, battling with the tough conditions to keep her car under control as she hurried to get there first. She did not find his car in the driveway when she arrived, and she ran into the empty house to find it pleasantly warm. With no more time to waste, she headed into his bedroom and stripped down to her undergarments, resting on his unmade bed just when he arrived himself. It was to be the moment when she'd find out if she'd win at her gamble. And as he called for her and then began to climb the stairs, she put on a sweet smile and removed her hairband. If only Ruth could see this now. she thought.
