I'm doing a history of the gryphons/griffons/griffins' forms and how they've come to be the diverse creatures we see today in artwork.

As time progressed, the Greeks took a liking to the Gryphon. They gave it eagle features, along with a set of same-breed wings. They also gave it a history and purpose. Gryphons, in Greek lore, protected treasure. They would either rip up raiders or drop them from the sky.
