Drunk CarLOS sez: Wouldn't it be cool listening to some Beach Boys vinyl on a turntable (Denon 103R cart., of course) through a tube amp? \m/
-
The last thing I listened to on that kind of setup was Bayou Country......right after it came out. Do you gots such a thing?

I meant you personally....right now. I'll bet you'd drop a shit load of cash buying a good turntable and tube amp though. Premium, since who uses them anymore?
-
You can start off with a brand new Yaqin tube amp for under $500 and a great used turntable for under $250 or an entry level used TT for about $140 (get a $70 DJ table and drop in a $70 HiFi cartridge like a Shure or Grado... BAM! Instant audiophile entry :-D ).
There's a renaissance in this gear, so it's becoming more and more common. A drugstore in .ca called London Drugs (kinda like a Walgreens) even carries tube audio and turntables.-
That's amazing. But transistors etc just cant give you sound reproduction like vinyl amped by a tube set.
Remember those old tube testing machines they used to have in supermarkets and otherplaces? You brought in the tubes you thought were burnt out from your radio or tv and looked through the (seemed like) 100's of pin configurations till you found the right one. Pushed the button and it told you if your tube was good or bad. Had all the new tubes in a cabinet in the bottom.
I wonder if we'll ever see anything like those come back.-
I know where there are a couple in Vancouver... would be nice conversation piece for the shop, come to think of it :D
