I am very pleased that you have added my work to the fav. For me, as a novice user, this is very important. ❤️

hooooooooooiii!!!!!
how are things on weasyl so far? i had an account back in 2014, but i havent really been active since.. i literally just logged on after like 6 years. it doesn't feel like it's very active as far as i can tell, but maybe theres still a nice community going or something?
-
Things are pretty good! It's indeed a little slow and most people tend to more just upload their work than favorite other's works (I do the opposite tbh, haha), but everyone I've met so far is really nice. :)
-
that's good, i'm glad you're enjoying it! ^^
i honestly don't think i'll be sticking around for very long again - maybe i just have unfortunate timing or something, but it seems every time i look at the new submissions over 50% of it is fetish/nsfw work... even with sfw mode turned on. and it's not that i personally really mind to see it, but it means weasyl isn't a community that's safe or appropriate for the youngest members that can join, and that in turn says something about the level of moderation, which are things i care about. :( i mainly create work for all-ages, so i wouldn't be able to have the younger half of the audience here in good faith.-
Yeah, kind of the same on my end... I advice you avoid Newgrounds then, too. Because on Newgrounds it's even worse.
But I'm sticking around just to spread my art around a little.Do you have DeviantArt by any chance?
-
oh boy, newgrounds hehe... i used to go on there sometimes for the flash games, but i don't post on there! i wouldn't really know what the art community there is like.
and nah, i dont! i used to be quite active on there, but not... recently. i have a twitter/tumblr i update once every few weeks/months, and other than that i post everything in a discord server i run - most of what im looking for in a community is having people to talk to and giving each other feedback, so a chat group works pretty well for that! (if youd like to see it, i can dm you an invite :3) ... other than that i'm in the artri.se server so i can sign up when that comes off the ground, but we'll see about that once it's actually there!
are you active elsewhere?
-
Sounds interesting!
I'm on DeviantArt, sadly don't have Twitter and Tumblr is kind of dead. Other than that I'm on here and on Newgrounds, and I have a ToyHouse account.
Also waiting for Artrise and Artspacious to get opened up.-
ahhhh yeah! tumblr is... poor for original work to put it kindly - if you do fanart, and given the fandom is big enough, you'll still pretty actively hit notes, but even if you do, it's still just not much of a social platform. people leave nice comments in tags, but no one really talks to each other much! and if you do original work, good luck on being seen at all, aha. twitter is pretty similar, but i havent really invested much in it either, so thats probs a part of it.
how is toyhouse? i have an account, but it always seemed more of like... a storage for adoptables rather than an art website to me, so i havent really been on there much. im also not familiar with artspacious :o
-
Artspacious was a response to Eclipse. These people who thought of Artspacious want to make a site that's smiliar to ''old'' styled DA (the version before Eclipse).
Here is a link to their DA group (with a link to their Discord somewhere) if you wanna check it out: https://www.deviantart.com/artspacious/As for ToyHouse, it's indeed a storage place for characters mostly, but they also have a forum where you can share art, writings, post commission info, other tiny fun things, etc. And people can follow your account and you can comment on artworks and characters and like characters of other people.
-
ooohh i see! :D i don't think i'll join artspacious - it's a good concept, but i'm not much of a fan of old deviantart either beyond its community. as an art website some things worked... and some things didn't, haha. e-currency is one of the last things i'd want in an art community - it leads to its own little economy and the expectation you can pay artists with that instead of real money they can buy food with, underpricing for various reasons, which in turn also drives down the prices of real-money commissions - it's not healthy for anyone except the people who run the website and profit off of this. just an example!
but maybe i'll look into getting back on toyhouse then - i do love some good old forums! ive been pretty active in places like. the gaiaonline forums or the pokefarmq forums hehe... it works for me because there's a lot more direct interaction involved instead of just looking at art. :3 thank you for letting me know!! <3

Tbh I have no idea how much Artspacious will look like old DA. All we can do is wait and see, I guess. I will check it out once it's up, and decide from there (I will probably join since I want to be a part of more art platforms, though).
But I get what you mean. I definitely struggle with the whole on-site point currency. It's so hard to get money commissions, or to even get commissions, at all...If you ever come back to ToyHouse, though, hit me up. I'm Jeames on there. :D
