If you'd like requested-drawings of your furry OCs, I'd be happy to accommodate you! :3 And you don't even have to worry about payment or trading in that regard, since I can whip-up a fairly decent character portrait in a little over an hour. XD I WOULD appreciate, however, if you checked out some of MY gallery, as well. :3
-
You could? Well I'd hate to bother you but it would most certainly help. That thumbnail for Winters Gallows is the only thing I've got for both Lukan and Klaus. And as for a couple other OCs I have... sometimes I wonder if they even exist! ^^; It'd be greatly appreciated, but don't feel like you have to! ^^;
-
Well, if it's a re-draw of your story thumbnail you want, I'm sure I can whip up something for you sometime soon, possibly even tonight. :3
-
I don't think I will need a new thumbnail yet. Probably not until the story reaches chapter 10 where the story will branch off into the five paths I mentioned. I am currently working on chapter 9 right now so I don't need anything like that just yet.
-
Okay. Well then, would you like me to act as a grammar proof-reader for the time being, then?
Also, the title "Winter's Gallows" I honestly think is a very strong one. It's what drew me to click on it and start reading in the first place, which is what a title should do. It basically indicated to me that this would be a relatively dark, melodramatic story with touching and emotionally driven plot-points, rather than, "Oh hey look at me make Thor and Loki make love to each-other! Isn't this so hawt?!" XD
However, the chapter tag-line, if you like, I could give you some suggestions on. For example, if you want to continue the "winter" theme, you could have this chapter's tag-line be "The First Thaw", or something like that, and maybe have later chapter tags related to other seasons, like spring and summer.
-
Well I'd be wrong in saying that there will not be any sexual scenes in Winter's Gallows. Actually chapters 5, 8, and 9 have them (and in detail too as chapters 6 and 7 say they did then, but will not in detail at all) and will likely be the only ones for a while since the TRUE conflict will kick in by chapter 10 and render all the setup in the first 9 chapters that much more impacting. Or that's the goal I have.
As for your question to the grammar and proofreading things... I most certainly am going to need someone to help me out with that, but here is the thing with that. I want to draft the entire story before edits and revisions are made, if that is okay.
And the tag line... I completely forgot to devise one. Well I suppose the statements I made on the thumbnail can kinda count. But at the same time, it doesn't tie in with the title very well... so maybe I SHOULD devise a new tag line, if not the title as well.-
Well, I'm okay with there being "sex scenes", as long as the "detail" you put into them is relevant, brief, and ADDS to the story as a whole rather than detract from it. If you have a sex scene draw on too long and go too much into the gooey-little details, then you risk creating what I call a "Big-Lipped-Alligator Porno-Moment". XD
-
Well the problem is, what I consider my biggest weakness in writing, is not being descriptive enough. However, the detail I am putting into the sex scenes is actually meant to have Lukan experience it and develop feelings from them. It's his point of view I'm going for here. This IS his first time doing them after all. So when the conflict breaks in and he potentially loses these feelings forever...
It all will impact his feelings during the conflict much more intensely. It's part of the buildup I want to lead to those moments. But again, this is what I am aiming for. Whether I succeed in doing so is not up to me, but the readers.-
Well that's what proof-readers like me are for, right? XD
Also, not to spam you with my work or anything, but you might be interested in taking a look at my Science Fiction story, Small World. All I'll tell you right now is it stars these child-sized bipedal mouse-like aliens called Ferrens (my profile pic is of one. XD)
-
I will keep it in mind when I'm taking breaks in my writing. Science fiction is something I really need to practice more, because it was the first genre I ever dabbled in when I started writing ten years ago. (Ten years already. H-holy crap...)
-
If it's any consolation, I wasn't even fully LITERATE until I was in my early teens, and all throughout highschool English was by far my weakest subject. XD It wasn't until a few months after I graduated that I discovered fan fiction on deviantART, and decided to try and dabble in it myself, with unexpectedly amazing results. XD
-
Yeah I was unimaginably atrocious when I started scribbling words down when I was 9. I don't think it was until I was 13 that I realized that my skill was building more and more as I went. I didn't think of it as a legitimate skill until my English teachers in high school said that I had a real knack for it. Hell, when I was a senior, and we had to write a chapter of a book we were reading in our perspectives, my teacher thought my entry was so good, that not only did I get the only 100 in the class, but she also asked if I was okay with her using my entry for an example in future classes. (I unfortunately lost the copy of it so I can't show anyone...)
And yeah. English was MY weakest subject too oddly enough. But it was because my reading scores and speaking and listening scores were less than desirable. My writing scores kept me afloat the whole time...-
Well, what I meant by "illiterate" was that I literally did not know how to read at ALL until I was at least seven, and it was several more years still before I finally read my first whole book from front to back. XD
-
Ah I see ^^; Well I suppose that's more compelling than my story. I was praised for knowing words bigger than I should know as far back as the first grade... ^^; For me the precursor to my skill was there from the beginning. It is not all that extraordinary in the end...
-
Well, ironically I was not only praise, but in fact shocked teachers as far back as junior kindergarten at my ability to speak "like an adult." In addition, by that time I had also COMPLETELY memorized all the then-known planets in the solar system (this was the early 90's, so Pluto was still one of them XD), from their names, sizes, defining features, surface temperatures, positions in the solar system, and even understood their basic chemistry and how the Sun is a giant nuclear furnace run on hydrogen and helium that would eventually swell up into a Red Giant and "gobble-up" most of the inner planets when it runs out of its hydrogen fuel. XD
-
I was the same way with the whole solar system thing. Apparently I knew all the known moons of the planets at the time as well. I knew the time it took to orbit the sun for all of them, even how often Pluto crosses Neptune's path and all that jazz ^^;

Where the hell WERE people like you when I was in school? XD
On a side note, I find it fascinating how despite the fact that you're American according to your page description, a lot of the terminology you use in your writing reminds me more of that of Brits; i.e. "shop" and "pack" instead of "store" and "backpack". Then again, this could just be because I have literally never been farther from my home city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada than Toronto. XD
-
Haha I'll be honest, it is probably because I watched a lot of English shows and movies and even played a few games from Europe. I can't tell you how many times I was going to put the phrases "you lot", "what are you playing at", "barking mad" or just "mad", and "bloody hell" in my work. I probably have let a few of them slip in here or there, but I can't deny that English media has been a huge influence on my writing...
-
Well, I'll admit I often start thinking in British accents for hours after binge-watching a few episodes of Doctor Who. XD
-
...Doesn't help that throughout my childhood, Harry Potter was HUGE... My mom was obsessed with it... ^^; Reading the books over and over was a thing. My mom loves Doctor Who, a few British TV shows and movies.
My favorite video game is Xenoblade Chronicles.
So... makes sense my writing style has been influenced in that way... ^^;-
Ugh... I HATED the Harry Potter fad... The only times I exposed myself to it were when I was FORCED to watch the first two movies with the rest of my class in middle school. They weren't BAD, for sure, but at the time I had less than no interest in "fantasy" and "magic", and just wanted more Star Wars and Star Trek movies. XD
-
On the flipside however, Star Wars and Trek are a couple of things that I simply don't get. Do I think they're overrated? No, not at all, but simply put, I don't get it. Sci-Fi is one of those things that I like, but only sometimes; it depends. Fantasy however is where most of the good stuff lies for me.
-
-
Because Winter's Gallows is NOT my first novel. It's my second. The first was a fantasy novel I have on my FA. ...Which no one can see right now, but I digress. That one I DID finish already, two years ago believe it or not aaand. I don't like it. I WAS planning to make a couple sequels, but... I don't like it.
-
Hey, I'm not saying I DISLIKE the fantasy genre. I just prefer SciFi over it. But I'm sure we can both agree that Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings is AWESOME, as is most of the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series. XD
-
I only saw Lord of the Rings once. And I barely remember it. I really need to watch it again, because from what I DO remember, it was epic... And PMD? Better than the main series games when story is focused on. Definitely.
-
Yes, exactly! Why do so many Pokémon fans on the internet seem to overlook them?! XD
Also, here's ANOTHER friend of mine you bare a freaky resemblance to personality-wise. XD
-
Is that so...? Well that is um... interesting. However my DA is quite different from my accounts here, on IB and FA. I found the fandom to be incredibly toxic on DA... so I've barred myself from it there... I do reviews, or rather I try to, of random shiz there instead... ^^;
-
Well, I respectfully disagree on the "toxic" part since I've never had many problems there myself, but would you mind linking me? I usually spend more time on there, anyway, since I've been on that site for well over five years and only just joined this one a few months ago. XD
-
Well just about every fur I met on DA had some sort of vendetta against me and... each other for that matter! The worst one constantly changes accounts, so I have no idea where he is now... And I don't remember who followed him either. All I can remember is their vicious and twisted natures. One year on DA, and I deleted my account; it got so bad. So now. No more fandom for me on DA! The only people I remember are the ones that were decent... one of them was the one that did the art for Winter's Gallows by the way... (boy do I have a long story involving him and that one awful guy on DA... ugh...)
-
Well, I guess you were just unlucky that one time and got involved in the wrong crowd. I can assure you, though, almost ALL my friends on dA are decent, understanding people, if maybe a bit quirky sometimes, and anyone who I find pushing my or my friends' buttons too much get blocked, so as long as you have me as a guid to start off with, I'm sure you'll be fine. :3 I've already given you links to two people I know are trustworthy and share a lot of your interests and personality traits who you can get in touch with to start off. :3
-
Perhaps I had. My luck is FAR from the best after all... however, it was just so traumatic, that I no longer trust DA any longer on matters like these.
-
Well, I HIGHLY recommend giving it a second shot. And if you need any help, I act as a mentor and take you on as my own Padawan learner-lightsabered XD
Seriously, though, may I have that link? :3
