I rarely do this because I don't feel confident in my abilities and I just KNOW I'm going to lose. Anyway, I entered myself into a contest of an artist I REALLY love for a chance to win one of her original species.

At first I was like, "I got this. I'm going to work really hard and win this thing. I WANT THIS!" I sat down and I drew this thing and submitted it. Only....to get my hopes blown completely out of the freaking water. =_= Compared to the other submission, my art looks like shit.

What am I doing wrong? Are my lines too thick? Is it my coloring? Is it my shading? What do I need to do to improve???? Somebody tell me.

I could watch tutorial videos all day long, but I need to know what I need to work on first...
